For the first time in the country, engineering will be studied in Hindi which will be launched very soon by IIT-BHU.Last year itself, the Ministry of Education had considered the study of IIT in Hindi language and then IIT-BHU was also asked to prepare for it. However, due to the pandemic period, this new plan was stopped in the middle.
This step is being taken under the new education policy. The idea behind this is to promote studies in our mother tongue i.e. Hindi. Many students studying in Hindi speaking areas or Hindi medium have to face problems due to engineering studies in English, but now, it will be a thing of the past.
IIT-BHU will be the first engineering college in the country which is going to offer B. Tech studies in Hindi medium instead of English medium. This information was given by Professor Pramod Kumar Jain, Director of the Institute and Chairman of Official Language Committee, at the inauguration of Hindi fortnight organized at Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University).
In the program, Professor Jain said that in the new education policy, the medium of instruction is to be made in mother tongue, for which IIT (BHU) is preparing to start first year education through Hindi medium. If engineering is to be promoted, then the language of the concerned field has to be respected. Prof. Jain congratulated the colleagues in the offices for working in Hindi and also appreciated them for doing more and more work in Hindi in the classrooms, departments and offices.
Apart from this, Acharya Anil Kumar Tripathi, Vice-Chairman of the Institute’s Official Language Implementation Committee, also highlighted the importance of Hindi language. On this occasion, Acharya Sanjay Kumar Pandey, President of Pakhwada Committee, gave information about the purpose of Hindi Pakhwada. Registrar Rajan Srivastava gave information about the works and achievements done in Hindi in the Institute in the year 2020-21.
It is to be known that last year itself due to implementation of new education policy, the Ministry of Education had considered the study of IIT in Hindi language and then IIT-BHU was also asked to prepare for it. However, due to the lockdown period, this new plan was stopped in the middle. However, the institute has given its consent for the new session, due to which IIT-BHU will soon launch a new B.Tech. course in Hindi.
