BHU offers Interest-Free Loan : Banaras Hindu University has launched interest free loan assistance scheme for its students who are facing challenges in getting education due to their weak economic condition. Under this scheme, students whose family has a Below Poverty Line (BPL) card, or whose parents have died or not from COVID-19, and the child was dependent on their earnings, will get an annual salary of Rs 12,000. Assistance will be given. According to a statement.

This has been done so that they can complete their education in the university uninterruptedly. The recommendation of two faculty members is necessary to avail the benefits of the scheme.


Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain said in the statement that the university will provide all possible help to the students so that they can complete their studies. He said that the financial assistance would be interest free loan.

So far, the benefit of this scheme will be given to about one thousand students. So far about 200 applications have been received in this regard and 103 applications have been approved.

It states that after getting employment, the student can pay the loan in installments in two years. The responsibility for repayment of the loan would lie neither on the parents of the student nor on the faculty members who recommended the names of the students for the loan, the statement said.
